Calling All  Terror Owners… Sorry, Terriers! Terrier Owners!

Join our Terrier Expert, Rhiannon, for an afternoon deep dive into the world of Terriers.

Bred to hunt, they can be feisty and independent and can often be misunderstood and seen as stubborn and difficult. But really they just need understanding and motivation in a way that works with their natural instincts rather than against them!

This workshop is for you if you have a Terrier and have any of the following struggles:

  • Motivating your dog or finding the right rewards.
  • Focus and attention when on walks.
  • Recalling around distractions – especially the small, furry kind.
  • Barking at… everything.
  • Digging up your lawn and plants.

If you want to gain the knowledge and the skills to truly understand and motivate this gritty, fun breed and to have a harmonious relationship with your Terrier, then you can’t miss out on this opportunity.

At Boomerang Dogs, we help owners work towards a shared goal of enjoying life together with their dog, and this workshop unlocks the secrets of that for Terrier guardians.

Rhiannon owns three Border Terriers, two of which she has taken to Crufts, and has really learnt what makes this breed group special. She has worked up and down the country with Terrier parents, sharing her knowledge and leading to many success stories.

This 3-hour workshop will cover:

Focus and Engagement – Terriers default to engaging with the environment. Using fun games and training exercises, we will show you how you can shift their focus onto you, boosting relationship, listening skill and recall.

Using Their Nose – These natural hunters love to use their nose, so let’s get involved with them. Using trailing and scent games, we show your dog how to make scent a game for the both of you.

Enrichment – Activities you can do that tick all of your terrier’s boxes for fun and fulfilment. Digging, hunting, dissection – all the things they like to do best, but in a controlled way that works for us too.

Self Control – A big ask for these impulsive dogs, but broken down into achievable steps. We will show you how to build self control with food and toys which can then be extended to hunting and prey.

Coat Care – Find out all about hand stripping, watch a demo and get to ask questions, as well as find out about other aspects of Terrier care.

  • Suitable for all aged Terriers, will especially benefit pawrents of teenage Terriers.
  • Perfect for those who can’t attend regular training.
  • Essential knowledge for all Terrier owners

Is it suitable for my dog?

This workshop is suitable for people and dog-friendly dogs that can eat treats in most situations. It is not suitable for highly reactive or overly nervous dogs. If you are unsure, please give us a call on 02921 200013 or use the contact button on this page.

How will the workshop work?

The workshop will be a mixture of theory and practical learning. We will start with dogs in the car while your trainer talks through exercises, so your dogs need to be comfortable to relax in the car for short periods of around 10-15 mins at a time, to give them breaks. There will be breaks for you and your dog and refreshments available.
